Featured Institutes

Advanced Technologies and Manufacturing Institute (ATAMI)
ATAMI's 80,000 square foot facility is a dynamic and highly collaborative environment between OSU and industry. This unique shared user facility offers direct access to tooling, resources, and consultation expertise to carry out commissioned work. ATAMI is currently home to:

  • OSU College of Engineering faculty conducting research in advanced manufacturing processes, methods, and materials.

  • Continuous Flow Processing Lab enabling machine learning chemical synthesis experimentation.

  • Shared state-of-the-art tooling capabilities.

  • OSU Advantage Accelerator classroom, shared meeting space, hot desks for emerging startups, and staff offices.

  • Approximately 12 OSU-affiliated startup companies developing products for the specialty chemical industries.


OHSU Knight Cancer Institute
The Knight Cancer Institute has earned the National Cancer Institute’s highest designation, as a Comprehensive Cancer Center and is the only such center between Seattle and Sacramento. The Knight Cancer Institute is led by Brian Druker, M.D. a pioneer of targeted cancer therapies.  The Knight Cancer Institute is involved in over 400 clinical trials and is a prolific research institute.  Specialized departments focusing on research innovation within the Knight Cancer Institute include the Center for Experimental Therapeutics and the Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center.


University of Oregon Prevention Science Institute
The Prevention Science Institute at the University of Oregon is a multidisciplinary research institute focused on improving the lives of children, families, and adults through science, outreach, and program delivery. PSI conducts research from multiple perspectives, including translational research that focuses on interactions between the brain, social context, and behavior; developing, testing, and delivering effective intervention programs; and efficacious ways to disseminate programs into community, agency, and school settings.  PSI’s latest success is the launch of Northwest Prevention Sciences, a UO research based spinout co-founded by Professor Beth Stormshak to commercialize the Family Checkup®, a platform that provides parents with the tools that they need to manage their children’s behaviors effectively and to build a strong and positive relationship with their children. 


Transportation Research and Education Center
The Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC) at Portland State University is an interdisciplinary center, with research initiatives that pull together the voices and expertise of a wide range of backgrounds to collectively shape the ways we move through the world. TREC supports collaborative research and education that provide a unique lens on transportation insight for vibrant communities. TREC is home to the U.S. DOT funded National Institute for Transportation and Communities (NITC), the Initiative for Bicycle and Pedestrian Innovation (IBPI), and other transportation grants and programs. TREC produces impactful research for transportation decision makers, and supports the education of future transportation professionals through curriculum development and student participation in research.
